Generazioni Del Cielo

'Generazioni del cielo' (Generations of the Sky) is a hymn. A hymn to nature, to the elements, to the sun, to the stars, and to the Universe. It celebrates both inner and outer beauty. It represents a generation in deep connection with their inner world, living with respect and love for Nature, the Universe, and our planet.
The work is divided into two acts. The first act connects with the outer world and all of Nature. The second act focuses on the inner world, looking for awareness and personal growth.
The Ark by Massimo Scolari, the stage design of the Opera, is the symbol of salvation and the union between the outer and inner world of humans. This is the central meaning of the work. We find this same feeling in the lyrics by Giada Manca di Villahermosa, in the connection between emotions, feelings, and nature: trees, animals, minerals, the universe, stars, and the sun. The musical writing is clear and crystal-clean, looking for a pure sound. It uses essential elements of harmony from all eras: unisons, triads, fifths, octaves, melodic repetitions, and cycles inspired by planetary orbits and the structure of harmonics. These are the same rules that Pythagoras used to explain the laws of the Universe.

“In my music, the search for awareness and growth has always come together,” says Roberto Cacciapaglia. “It is a mirror of who I am. The academic and purely musical writing meets my personal experiences in meditation, and my work is born from this meeting. It is an acoustic music that comes from electronic and post-electronic experiences. The strings and voices do not just vibrate; they connect with an ancient yet contemporary system. The Opera is from 1986, and the writing matches what I still work on today: technology used with respect for the natural nature of sound, not with digital or synthetic sounds, but with software that expands the acoustic sound. After the Ouverture, the opera opens with the first Aria ‘Kneeling World’. We see how much this world is still on its knees today, hurt by wars, environmental disasters, pandemics, intensive farming, and more. But above all, it suffers from a lack of awareness and love for our planet, our true home.”
