London Sleeps

“I composed ‘London Sleeps’ in London during the winter nights, when the city is silent, as a being with a calm and deep breath,” says Roberto Cacciapaglia. “‘London Sleeps’ is an intimate hymn to the sleeping and dreaming London city. Everything is still - the park, the trees, the empty streets, the river in the darkness. The sound of the piano exits the room, passes through the window, and goes out to search in the gardens, in the trees, in the houses, in the silent byways, listening, as London sleeps in the most beautiful and hidden corners of the city. The piano notes ring out in the night, and their trail is like an echo that spreads everywhere. As I play, I hear all of its story and intimate immensity. And I open my eyes, looking up towards the London sky.”
