September 14th 2007 – On this day 8 years ago “Quarto Tempo” was released by Roberto Cacciapaglia, featuring the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
For many years, whenever I play the piano and compose, before touching the keyboard and starting to play, I stay still. I begin from silence. I enter into a precise state that I recognize and from silence, the sound appears. It is an essential and directed sound that surpasses obstacles and divisions. It is not a mental or intellectual process but rather it is music that flows from emotion through melody and harmony, primordial elements of the power of sound throughout time. “Quarto Tempo” is the space beyond the confines of the three time periods: past, present and future where before, now and then, meet and cancel each other out. In this unfathomable space I find an attitude open to listening to the music and the feelings that spring from it. This desire to go beyond these limits is a constant that is central to my work.”
