Lamentazioni di Geremia

There are five elegies composed in occasion of the destruction of Jerusalem probably by different authors. In the Hebrew text they belong to the Megilloth (rolls) and are read in the Synagogue during the anniversary of the fall of the city by means of

Nabucodonoser on the ninth day of the month of Ab.  In the Christian liturgy the pain for the destruction of the city becomes the pain of Maria SS. Addolorata for the death of Christ on the cross and is read during Easter.
